Engine, transmission and performance
To meet a variety of needs, the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is designed with three different engines, an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and brawny towing capacity. The base engine uses a 3.6-liter V-6, which makes 295 horsepower and is fitted with a fuel-saving start/stop system. On higher trims, a 5.7-liter V-8 and 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 are optional. The eight-speed automatic transmission does an important job of being in the required gear at the right time, although with sudden throttle inputs, it is possible to get it off guard. The Grand Cherokee also has an available air suspension that can improve highway mileage.
Fuel economy
The Grand Cherokee has an EPA rating of 19 City/26 Highway on gas mileage. The SRT model, on the other hand, provides an EPA rating of 13 City/19 highway.
Interior, comfort, and cargo
The interior of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee has high-tech features, comfortable seats, and easy-to-use controls. Its cabin looks stylish and durable. The dashboard has an infotainment touchscreen atop buttons and controls. It also has a 7.0-inch LCD display flanked by analog gauges.
Infotainment and connectivity
The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s excellent infotainment Uconnect system is easy to use and has a snappy performance. This jeep has in-car Wi-Fi and rear-seat entertainment. In addition, it has a touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth phone, and a six-speaker audio system with available SiriusXM satellite radio.
Safety
The Grand Cherokee has, along with rear cross-traffic alert, a blind-spot monitor that helps to detect cars that are not visible in your mirrors. There is also a forward collision warning and crash mitigation system that can detect objects or cars that stop short in your path and engage emergency brakes. Even more, a lane departure warning system in place will warn you in case you drift out of your lane, prompting you to correct your heading. The safety features earn a five-star rating from NHTSA on 4WD equipped models and four stars on 2WD models. But, concerning front and side crush, both models get five-star ratings.
